Roger Federer: Streak will come to an end

Roger Federer insists he is not the best player at the ATP World Tour Finals, despite his superb record at the event.

The world No. 2 extended his winning run at the year-end championships to 12 matches as he defeated David Ferrer in straight sets to become the first man to qualify for the semi-finals.

Federer surrendered his world No. 1 ranking to Novak Djokovic following his decision not to defend his Paris Masters title, but he insists that despite his superior record on indoor courts - he has 20 titles, including a record six wins at the ATP World Tour Finals - he is not the man to beat this week.

"Indoors, I've been very successful over the years," Federer said. "Probably won most titles indoors, maybe more than all the other guys combined. But that doesn't make me the best this week."

Federer, who can afford to lose his final round-robin clash against Juan Martin Del Potro on Saturday, will be looking to avenge his defeat to the Argentine at the Swiss Indoors final last month, but he will use the match as a chance to work on aspects of his game ahead of a potential semi-final against Andy Murray.

"Now I'm into the semis, so that's a bit of a relief," Federer said. "I can maybe then work on my game in the next match looking ahead, which is a good thing."
