Henman expecting big things from Murray

Former British No. 1 Tim Henman believes Andy Murray will take his game to a new level in 2013.

Murray is currently training for the new season after winning his maiden grand slam at the US Open.

With the added confidence that will come from his win at Flushing Meadows, combined with hard work during the off-season, Henman believes Murray will challenge defending champion Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open.

"I think he's got as good a chance as anyone at the Australian Open," Henman told The Tennis Space. "The way he works in the off-season, that will give him such a good platform. He's got the confidence of getting his first slam under his belt.

"It will be interesting to see what the conditions are like. You always turn up wanting to know how the courts and the balls are playing."

While once Roger Federer's rivalry with Rafael Nadal was the major talking point in men's tennis, Henman believes Djokovic and Murray are now leading the way.

"If you look at the top four, there's a question mark over Nadal, and how he's going to come back," Henman said. "I really hope that he comes back at his peak as he brings so much to the game. Federer's not getting any younger, but he's still playing great tennis. How long can he sustain this level?

"Djokovic and Murray are the two stand-outs, obviously with Djokovic being No. 1 again. It was an incredible achievement. But I think Murray is now ready to take his game to an even higher level. I'm intrigued as everyone else."
