Laura Robson has set her sights on breaking into the world's top 32 before the end of the summer after a breakthrough season in 2012.

Robson, who currently sits at No. 50 in the world rankings, has not enjoyed the best of tune-ups for the Australian Open with a first-round defeat to Sloane Stephens at the Hobart International on Sunday after falling in the second round of the Shenzhen Open.

However, after winning an Olympic silver medal in the mixed doubles with Andy Murray at London 2012, Robson is high on confidence having reached the fourth round at the US Open in September.

After a winter spent training with new coach Zeljko Krajan, the former Wimbledon girls' champion is fit and raring to go for the new season.

"Last winter, I was on crutches until Christmas Eve and had two weeks to prepare for the Australian Open," Robson told the Evening Standard. "It was not ideal at all - I started off by playing just 25 minutes a day so it made for a tough start to the year."

Although Robson has not set any targets for the Australian Open, she wants to be seeded for the majors by the US Open.

"I haven't set many goals for myself at the moment," Robson said. "I'd like to be seeded in a grand slam by the end of the year."

Robson has been working on her movement and her serve in recent months and breaking the world's top 20 appears to be a realistic target for the British No. 2.

"Prior to Wimbledon, I was using a few different people and it got to a point where I needed someone at every single tournament so I met my current coach at the Olympics and, with me heading to America, we decided to try it out," Robson said of her new coach Krajan, who guided Dinara Safina to the top of the world rankings in 2009.

"He has got a pretty good resume. I sat down and remember thinking that it didn't really matter if I liked him or not as long as I was getting the good coaching that I needed. But I actually don't mind him."
