Wozniacki fightback stuns Lisicki

Caroline Wozniacki rallied from the brink of defeat to book her place in the second round of the Australian Open with a three-set win over Sabine Lisicki.

The No. 10 seed was blown off court in the first set and looked down and out when 3-0 down in the third, but Lisicki imploded in the third set - she made 57 unforced errors in the contest - and Wozniacki won six games on the spin in the final set to win 2-6 6-3 6-3.

There was a double bagel in the women's singles for the second day in a row, Serena Williams firing out a warning with a 6-0 6-0 mauling of Edina Gallovits-Hall.

The win, though, came with a scare as she turned her already strapped ankle during the first set. After chasing down a forehand she crashed to the ground and called the trainer on for extensive treatment. Williams was able to continue and showed no discomfort in wrapping up the win.

The defending champion in the women's singles began in fine form, Victoria Azarenka taking out Monica Niculescu 6-1 6-4, while Sloane Stephens was impressive in taking out Simona Halep.

Kimiko Date-Krumm rolled back the years with a win over the 12th seed Nadia Petrova. The 42-year-old, a semi-finalist at the Australian Open way back in 1994, was dominant throughout the contest and won 6-2 6-0.

The seventh seed is on her way home, as Carla Suarez Navarro claimed a 6-4 6-4 win over Sara Errani.
