Watson and Robson in rankings surge

There may have been disappointment for Andy Murray at the Australian Open, but British pair Heather Watson and Laura Robson were celebrating after climbing to career high world rankings.

Watson and Robson enjoyed fine runs at the Australian Open, with both showing their potential by powering through to the third round. Their reward is a leap in the rankings, with Watson climbing to 40 and Robson to 43.

Watson is the highest-ranked Briton since Jo Durie hit a career high of No. 5 in the 1980s.

Victoria Azarenka keeps her top spot thanks to the successful defence of her Australian Open title, while Novak Djokovic did likewise with his victory.

Rafael Nadal's continued absence has resulted in him dropping out of the top four in the world, with David Ferrer climbing above him.
