Jelena Jankovic booked her place in the second round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart with a 6-2 6-2 victory over Gisela Dulko.

The Indian Wells champion struggled with her serve, hitting five double faults as she was forced to save seven break points from the world No. 34, who Jankovic last beat in Rome last year.

Jankovic will now meet Tsvetana Pironkova in the second round.

Sam Stosur looked in ominous form as she cruised past France's Marion Bartoli 6-2 6-1. The world No. 10, who won her first title of the year in Charleston two weeks ago, dropped just two points on her first serve as she wrapped up victory in an hour and five minutes. Stosur will meet Romania's Alexandra Dulgheru in round two.

Victoria Azarenka displayed masterful form in her service game as she breezed past Flavia Pennetta 6-1 6-4. Azarenka was accurate with over 80% of her first serves as she dominated Pennetta, who had looked so impressive for Italy in the Fed Cup last weekend.

Justine Henin proved her broken finger is causing her no problems as she claimed a &-6(3) 6-1 win over fellow wildcard Julia Goerges.

Eighth seed Yanina Wickmayer eased past Francesca Schiavone 6-3 6-3, while in the second round Shahar Peer stunned fifth seed Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3 6-7(4) 6-2.

The No. 3 seed Svetlana Kuznetsova was toppled in the second round stage by Na Li who claimed a 6-3 7-5 success in the late game.
