Highlights: S. Williams bt Morita (6-3 6-3)

Ninth seed Caroline Wozniacki suffered a disappointing third round defeat to wildcard Garbine Muguruza at the Sony Open on Saturday.

Wozniacki - looking to book a fourth round meeting with Li Na after the former French Open champion's earlier victory over Varvara Lepchenko - was overwhelmed by the unheralded Spaniard in Miami, slipping to a 6-2 6-4 defeat inside 90 minutes.

Wozniacki reached the semi-finals of the Florida tournament in 2013, but had no answer for the world No. 73 as Muguruza picked up one of the biggest victories of her career to date.

There were no such troubles for Serena Williams, who emerged a 6-3 6-3 winner over Ayumi Morita. Williams hit seven aces and broke four times in a one-sided encounter.

Serena's sister Venus will go no further, after she did not even make it to court for her clash with Sloane Stephens, who advanced courtesy of the veteran's withdrawal.

Elsewhere, there was a three-set victory for fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska against Magdalena Rybarikova, who was beaten 7-6(5) 2-6 6-3.

Ajla Tomljanovic came back from being bagelled in the opening set to defeat fellow wildcard Andrea Petkovic 0-6 6-4 7-6(1), but seventh seed Petra Kvitova is out, losing 6-0 4-6 6-1 to Kirsten Flipkens.
