Britain's Laura Robson and Lisa Raymond were beaten in the doubles final at the Sony Open in Miami after losing 6-1 7-6(2) to Nadia Petrova and Katarina Srebotnik.

Robson and Raymond had knocked out the top seeds Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci in the semi-finals, but the team dubbed as "Robmond" could not end their week on a high as they went down in straight sets, with Robson missing out on the opportunity to make it a double British success following Andy Murray's triumph over David Ferrer earlier on Sunday.

American Raymond, 20 years older than 19-year-old Robson, heaped praise on her partner and opened the door to playing at future tournaments as a pairing.

"Laura has an unbelievable future in front of her," Raymond, 11-time grand slam doubles champion, said. "We're definitely planning on, you know, hooking up and playing more. I just need to talk to some of the people that I was supposed to be playing with possibly. I think it's a partnership that can only get better. I think the more time you spend together on the practice court or just, you know, on the match court - and it's been great with Laura."
