Great Britain levelled up their Fed Cup World Group II play-off with Argentina as Laura Robson defeated Florencia Molinero in straight sets to answer Paula Ormaechea's earlier victory over Johanna Konta in Buenos Aires.

Robson turned in a solid performance on the Parque Roca court, hitting a stunning backhand winner early in the first to establish a quick lead before breaking her opponent and taking the first set 6-1.

It was a repeat performance in the second, as again British No. 1 Robson took the initiative with another early break before comfortably seeing out the match 6-1 6-1, levelling the tie at one apiece.

In Saturday's opening rubber, Ormaechea defeated Fed Cup debutant Konta 6-3 6-2 to ensure a strong start for the Argentina Camp.

Ormaechea flew out of the blocks with a double break early in the first, but the Brit responded to pull it back at 4-3; however, the Argentinian proved too strong and finished the set off to lead.

Konta missed early chances to break in the second, before world No. 143 Ormaechea took full advantage to clinically finish her opponent off with a strong showing and give Argentina an early lead.
