British No. 3 Johanna Konta will not feature at the French Open after suffering a 6-4 3-6 5-7 defeat to Kazakhstan's Galina Voskoboeva in the second qualifying round in Paris.

The 22-year-old beat China's Saisai Zheng 6-1 6-3 in the first round on Wednesday, but could not find the same form to surpass her seeded opponent in her bid to qualify for Roland Garros.

Despite winning the opening set and being a break up in the second, Konta succumbed to Voskoboeva in difficult conditions on the clay but offered brief respite when breaking back to level at 5-5 in the decider.

However, Voskoboeva seized momentum and capitalised to break before serving out for the match.

Konta took to Twitter after the loss to issue disappointment at missing out on the slam, which sees British No. 1 Laura Robson, Heather Watson and Elena Baltacha flying the flag in the singles draw.
