The long wait was definitely not worth it for Elena Baltacha on Tuesday, as she was dumped out of the French Open at the first opportunity.

With rain delays leading to the postponement of Heather Watson's opening contest, Baltacha was the only British interest in action at Roland Garros. But she failed to produce a victory, starting well before flailing to a 6-3 6-0 defeat to Marina Erakovic.

Breaking the New Zealander in the very first game of the contest, it looked like it could be a successful late afternoon's work for Baltacha out on Court Six - but a run of five successive lost games soon after quickly saw her lose the opening stanza.

In the second it was Erakovic who got the fast start breaking straight away and claiming a 4-0 advantage - and Baltacha quickly became dispirited, managing to be broken again from a seemingly imperious position as her game deserted her.

Erakovic was not going to look the other way at such gifts; duly serving out to bagel her British opponent and breeze into the second round in Paris.
