Murray seeded second, could face Rafa in QFs

Rafael Nadal has not been named as one of the top four seeds for Wimbledon, meaning he could face Britain's Andy Murray in the quarter-finals of SW19.

Murray has been seeded second for his home grand slam, and much of the talk has been about where the tournament's organisers would place Nadal.

The Spaniard - who clinched an eighth French Open title at Roland Garros at the beginning of June - is ranked fifth in the world after spending seven months out with a knee injury, but since his return to the circuit in February has been sensational in winning seven out of nine events.

There had been calls for Wimbledon's officials to consider Nadal's lengthy absence and comeback displays by altering a formula which determines the seedings.

However, the method, which takes into consideration performances on grass over the last two years, pitted Nadal - who crashed out to Lukas Rosol in last year's event in the second round - fifth, behind the player he beat in the French Open final David Ferrer.

And the seedings leave a nightmare scenario for Murray, world No. 1 Novak Djokovic and defending champion Roger Federer, who will all be desperate to avoid the two-time winner in the quarter-finals when the draw is made on Friday.
