Djokovic cruises past Haas into quarter-finals

If Andy Murray is going to win Wimbledon this year, he is going to have to beat the seemingly unstoppable Novak Djokovic.

The Serbian world No. 1 booked a spot in the quarter-finals with a resounding 6-1 6-4 7-6(4) win over Tommy Haas.

As always, Djokovic was out the blocks like a greyhound and raced into a one set lead in just 25 minutes, dropping just a single game.

Haas, the 13th seed, battled back and even led briefly in the second set when he broke Djokovic's serve. But, unable to maintain the momentum, Haas allowed his opponent straight back in and Djokovic went on to take the second set with minimal fuss.

Having broken midway through the third, the 26-year-old suffered a bit of a wobble late on when, serving for the set, he powered a backhand wide and gave Haas extended exposure to Centre Court.

Djokovic even had a match point on Haas's serve in the next game, but he failed to take it and was forced to settle for a win via a tiebreak.

Djokovic will face seventh seed Tomas Berdych, who needed four sets to see off Bernard Tomic 7-6(4) 6-7(5) 6-4 6-4.

Elsewhere, eighth seed Juan Martin Del Potro reached his first ever quarter final at SW19 with a 6-4 7-6(2) 6-3 win over Italian Andreas Seppi.

The Argentine will face fourth seed David Ferrer, who looked set to be another victim of an upset at this year's Championship when conceded the first set to Ivan Dodig, but the Spaniard recovered to win 6-7(3) 7-6(6) 6-1 6-1.

Lukasz Kubot of Poland and 24th seed Jerzy Janowicz will face each other in the next round having both come through five setters against Adrian Mannarino and Jurgen Melzer respectively.
