Andy Murray and Colin Fleming were beaten 6-4 7-6(4) by Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares in the doubles final at the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

Having lost the first set, the Scottish pair were broken early in the second by Austrian Peya and Brazilian Soares.

They recovered to force a tie-break but the third seeds regained control to close out the match in straight sets.

Earlier this week, Murray exited the singles event in Montreal after defeat by Latvia's Ernests Gulbis.

Wimbledon champion Murray was happy with his run in the doubles. He said: "In terms of returning to sharpness up at the net, it's perfect. I'm disappointed we lost but for certain things it helps a lot."
