Sharapova's former coach keen to work with Robson

Maria Sharapova's former coach Thomas Hogstedt is keen to work with British No.1 Laura Robson.

Swede Hogstedt helped Sharapova complete a career Grand Slam when she won the 2012 French Open, and she also regained her world No.1 status under his guidance.

However the pair split after this year's Wimbledon, where Sharapova tumbled out in the second round, beaten in straight sets by world No.131 Michelle Larcher de Brito.

Robson, 19, recently brought to an end her four-month partnership with Andy Murray's former coach Miles Maclagan.

After reaching the last 16 at Wimbledon and the third round of the US Open, Robson has won only three times in four events.

Hogstedt is believed to have a good relationship with Robson's mother Kathy. Nigel Sears, former head coach of women's tennis at the LTA, is also interested in becoming Robson's mentor.
