Federer one win from World Tour Finals
Roger Federer is on course for a sixth Basel crown and an appearance at the ATP World Tour Finals in November after coming through a tough semi-final against Vasek Pospisil at the Swiss Indoors.
Federer served out for the match in a tight deciding set to take a 6-3 6-7(3) 7-5 victory and will face defending champion Juan Martin Del Potro in Sunday's final after the Argentine overcame Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-4 4-6 6-2 earlier on Saturday.
The Swiss took the opening set but was pegged back when the dogged Pospisil levelled through a tie-break in the second.
Pospisil took the advantage in the decider with the first break but Federer broke back immediately to regain momentum, before edging to victory to reach his tenth final in Basel.
Federer now needs just one match win to qualify for the World Tour Finals, which begin at London's O2 Arena on November 4. If successful in the final, it will mark the 12th straight year the 17-time grand slam champion has reached the season-ending event.
