Novak Djokovic battled past David Ferrer to seal his second Paris Masters title with a 7-5 7-5 win at the Bercy Arena.

Ferrer had led 5-3 in both sets but Djokovic fought back before taking his second of two Championship points, wrapping up the victory in one hour and 52 minutes to reclaim the title he won in 2009.

It was his third Masters triumph of the season and 16th in his career, taking his tally to 40 titles overall. Djokovic will begin the defence of his World Tour Finals crown at the O2 Arena on a 17-match winning streak, his last defeat coming in September's US Open final at the hands of Rafael Nadal, whom he is aiming to overthrow as world No. 1 in London.

Djokovic, addressing the Paris crowd in French, said: "A win in London depends not only on my game but we have to see how Rafa is going to play.

"It's very important for me to concentrate on myself and let things take care of themselves. I've taken a lot of confidence from this week.

"The most important thing for me is to keep playing at this level."

An audacious drop shot saw Ferrer break Djokovic in the fifth game of the first set though he could not serve it out, Djokovic levelling for 5-5 before reeling off another two games.

Ferrer broke again in the first game of the second set, though again fluffed his lines when serving at 5-4, netting at 30-30 before a ruthless Djokovic took advantage to break back and go on to seal victory.

Djokovic has now won six Masters tournaments - Indian Wells, Miami, Rome, Canada, Shanghai and Paris - at least twice. The only Masters title he has yet to claim is Cincinnati.
