Djokovic and Serena named ITF World Champions

Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams have been named as the ITF World Champions for 2013.

Djokovic, who on Wednesday announced that Boris Becker will become his head coach, collects the award for the third year in a row, while Williams has been honoured for the fourth time.

With Rafael Nadal winning 10 titles, including the French and US Opens, by making an explosive return to the circuit in February following a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury, the Spaniard misses out on the award.

Djokovic won the Australian Open for the third season running, as well as reaching the Wimbledon and US Open finals and the semi-finals at Roland Garros.

He also retained his ATP World Tour Finals crown last month, reached the Davis Cup final, and won seven titles during the year, and on being named ITF champion the world No. 2 said: "It is an honour to be named ITF World Champion for the third year running. I've had a great 2013 season, and managed to end the year on a high. This will definitely serve as a good platform for 2014."

Williams won two grand slams, finished the year as the world No. 1, and lifted a career-best 11 trophies, as well as triumphing at the season-ending WTA Championships.
