Youzhny shocked by wildcard as Gulbis and Cilic march through
Seventh seed Mikhail Youzhny was shocked by wildcard Igor Sijsling in the first round of the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament, with the world No.64 winning 6-2 6-2 in Rotterdam.
Sijsling needed just shy of 75 minutes to complete his victory and will now face qualifier Michael Berrer for a place in the quarter-final.
Elsewhere, Ernests Gulbis overcame Denis Istomin 6-4 7-6(4) in one-and-a-half hours on court, while Marin Cilic defeated Lukas Rosol 6-2 6-2 in their first round tie.
Gulbis is to play the winner of Dmitry Tursunov and eighth seed Grigor Dimitrov in the second round and Cilic now faces a tie with fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Andy Murray has been confirmed to play his first round match against Edouard Roger-Vasselin on Wednesday, with Richard Gasquet, Fernando Verdasco and top seed Juan Martin Del Potro also scheduled to play their respective ties.
