Roger Federer is refusing to beat himself up about Sunday's Gerry Weber Open loss to Lleyton Hewitt, and he will now return home to Switzerland before travelling to England on Wednesday to begin the defence of his Wimbledon title.

Federer lost for the first time in 30 matches in Halle, going down 6-3 6-7 4-6 to Hewitt, who had not beaten the Swiss in their previous 15 encounters. Defeat was also Federer's second in 77 matches on grass.

The world No. 2 remains behind Rafael Nadal in the official rankings ahead of Wimbledon, where both men will compete simultaneously at the All England Club for the first time since their epic 2008 final. Despite the shocking circumstances of the Hewitt loss, Federer remains positive ahead of his pursuit of a 17th Grand Slam.

"I was unfortunate not to come through but the loss does not worry me," Federer said.

"It was a good tournament for me. I've got to ensure I draw the right conclusions for Wimbledon."

There are no movements in the men's top 10 following a week that saw Sam Querrey win the AEGON Championships at Queen's, which lifts the American to within one place of the world's top 20. Hewitt also makes a significant move, leaping six places to No. 26.

In the women's rankings, China's Na Li enters the world's top 10 following her brilliant triumph over Maria Sharapova at the AEGON Classic in Birmingham. Li won 7-5 6-1 to suggest she might improve on her Wimbledon best of a quarter-final place in 2006.

"Li was too good for me," commented Sharapova. "But I'm confident for Wimbledon."
