Laura Robson has confirmed she will miss the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells as she continues to recover from a wrist injury.

Robson took to her official Facebook page to announce the decision but indicated that she was still on track in her rehabilitation.

"I'm happy to report that I continue to progress with my wrist but I'm still not ready to compete at the highest levels yet so I won't be playing in Indian Wells," Robson said. "I'll keep you all updated with how things are going."

Robson has only completed one competitive match this year; the British No.1 was beaten 6-3 6-0 by Kirsten Flipkens in the opening round of the Australian Open in January.

Meanwhile, Heather Watson has been handed a wildcard for the event, which begins on March 3. Qualifying rounds take place on the opening two days before the main women's draw begins on March 5.
