Heather Watson insists she has learned from her mistakes against Agnieszka Radwanska as she prepares to take on the world No.3 at Indian Wells.

Watson, who had to win two qualifying matches to reach the main draw, secured the second-round meeting at the BNP Paribas Open on Wednesday by beating wildcard entry Belinda Bencic 7-5 6-4 .

But the Briton has lost both of her previous matches against Radwanska, failing to win a set and taking a total of only six games at last year's Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2012.

"I'm not going to give away my tactics but I'm not going to go in playing the same way I did the other two times," Watson said. "I'm going to try something new and just go out there and fight."

Watson reached a career-high 39th in the world rankings in February 2013 but after suffering from glandular fever her form dipped and she slipped down to 119th by the end of the season.

Watson, whose 15 match wins in 2014 have included nine in qualifiers, has fallen further in the rankings to 134th place but is encouraged by the way she has started the new campaign.

"I'm so pleased with how I'm playing at the moment," she said. "Two days ago was my first ever win at Indian Wells and this is my third this year and in my life so it's pretty exciting. I'm just looking forward to my next round now."
