Wildcard Edmund suffers first round defeat
Wildcard Kyle Edmund could not could capitalise on a good start at the Sony Open as the British No.5 lost out 6-7(2) 6-3 6-2 to Julien Benneteau in Florida.

Edmund took the opening set on the tie-break but Benneteau hit back to force the deciding set, which he won comfortably at to book his spot in the second round at Crandon Park.
Jeremy Chardy saw off Juan Monaco 7-5 3-6 7-6(5) to set up a second round clash with recent Indian Wells champion Novak Djokovic.
Elsewhere, Adrian Mannarino defeated Nikolay Davydenko in straight sets to advance, while there were also victories for qualifierThiemo de Bakker and Matthew Ebden.
