Spirited Cibulkova downs Radwanska in Miami

Dominika Cibulkova saved three match points to defeat Agnieszka Radwanska 3-6 7-6(5) 6-3 and book a spot in the last four of the Miami Masters for the first time in her career.

Victory ensured another first for the Slovakian as she will now take a place in the world's top ten for the first time in her professional career.

Third seed Radwanska took the early advantage for the opening set as Cibulkova racked up the unforced error count.

However, the 10th seed held on to force the tie break in the second and kept her cool to send the match into a deciding set.

The momentum carried for Cibulkova as she established an immediate break in the final set, but Radwanska showed spirit to break back and level the tie ahead of the fifth game.

Cibulkova rallied to break again in the eighth before Radwanska wasted four break points on the her opponent's serve. It proved costly, as Cibulkova finally wrapped up victory after almost two hours 40 minutes on court.

"This win really means a lot to me," Cibulkova said. "It's always tough to play Aga, but I knew I just had to stay aggressive. If you make some mistakes with Aga you still have to stay aggressive. That's the way I play, and it's the only way to beat her. I had to keep it going."

"I knew before the match that this was the match I needed to win to become Top 10," Cibulkova said. "So it was some more pressure, but I'm obviously very happy with the way I handled it on the court today."

Cibulkova will face Li Na after she became the first Chinese woman to reach the Key Biscayne semi-finals when she beat Caroline Wozniacki 7-5 7-5.

No.2 seed Li won the Australian Open in January and holds a 20-2 record this year. She has a 6-0 career record against Cibulkova.

Six-time champion Serena Williams will play five-time runner-up Maria Sharapova in the other semi-final.
