Sharapova seals hat-trick of Stuttgart crowns
Maria Sharapova won the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix for the third consecutive year after coming from a set down to beat Ana Ivanovic in Stuttgart.
The four-time Grand Slam champion lost the opening set 6-3 but fought back to beat Ivanovic 3-6 6-4 6-1 and lift her first silverware of the season.
Ivanovic, the former world No.1 and 2008 French Open champion, raced into a 5-0 lead in the first set as Sharapova was broken three times.
Sharapova managed to close the gap to 5-3 but Ivanovic secured another break of serve to take the opening set 6-3.
Ivanovic moved a break up at 3-1 in the second set but Sharapova recovered to win five of the next six games to force a deciding set.
Sharapova - who survived a three-hour, 23-minute win in the opening round against Lucie Safarova in three tiebreaks - broke Ivanovic in the first game of the final set and went 2-0 up.
Ivanovic pulled a game back at 2-1, but Sharapova raised her level and stormed to victory to the loss of only four points to triumph for the third year running.
