British trio keep Paris hopes alive
Britain's James Ward and Johanna Konta moved one match from the French Open main draw with Heather Watson coming through her first-round qualifier in Paris.
Ward, Britain's No.3, beat American Ryan Harrison 7-5 7-6(4) and will next meet Blaz Rola who is ranked 75 places above him at 94 in the world.
Konta also battled to a 6-4 2-6 6-3 victory against Poland's Paula Kania.
British women's No.2 Watson came through comfortably against American Irina Falconi, seeing her off 6-2 6-4.
She must now win two matches on Friday to qualify for the main draw of Roland Garros and takes on Ukraine's Kateryna Kozlova in the second round.
