Halep still standing in Paris
The highest seed remaining at the French Open continues to go from strength to strength as Simona Halep reached the quarter-finals after beating Sloane Stephens.
The fourth seed secured a 6-4 6-3 win over the American to set up a last-eight encounter against Svetlana Kuznetsova after the 2009 champion beat Lucie Safarova 6-3 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals for a sixth time.

With top seed and last year's champion Serena Williams, Li Na (No.2) and Agnieszka Radwanska (No.3) all losing before the last 16, Halep remains on course to become the first Romanian to win a Grand Slam in 36 years and follow in the footsteps of her manager Virginia Ruzici.
"I'm really happy I'm in the quarter-finals for the first time in my life here because I love Paris," Halep said.
"I have a lot of confidence in myself. Day by day I'm playing better and better. I love the clay here and feel very comfortable. I don't want to stop in the quarter-finals. I want to go further and I have to get ready for the next test."
Runner-up in 2012 Sara Errani overcame Jelena Jankovic 7-6(5) 6-2 to reach a third consecutive quarter-final at Roland Garros. And the Italian's next opponent will be Andrea Petkovic after she came from a set down to beat Kiki Bertens 1-6 6-2 7-5.
