Tsonga crashes out at Queen's

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga crashed out in the third-round of Queen's as Marinko Matosevic dispatched him in straight sets to set up a quarter-final against Stanislas Wawrinka.

Matosevic won 6-2 6-4 in just under an hour and a quarter, adding to his first-round scalp of ninth seed Marin Cilic to keep his run going.

Wawrinka eased into the last eight after a 6-2 6-2 victory over Sam Querrey on Thursday evening.

The Australian Open champion needed just 50 minutes to finish the job, and must surely be the favourite to win the title following Andy Murray's shock exit.

Whenever Wawrinka has reached a quarter-final at a tournament this year, he has gone on to win it, securing the Chennai title, breaking his grand slam duck at the Australian Open and winning his first Masters event in Monte Carlo.

However Wawrinka insists he isn't feeling the pressure ahead of Wimbledon.

"For sure, I'm No.3 in the world. For sure, attention is more than last year," said Wawrinka.

"But it doesn't matter. I need to deal with that. I need to focus, to stay with my team and be ready for the first match. That's it. That's the only thing that is important."

Wawrinka secured his first ever win at Queen's when Marcos Baghdatis retired midway through the first set of their match on Wednesday with a shoulder injury. On his only previous outing here in 2011, Wawrinka was beaten by Britain's James Ward.

Tomas Berdych also progressed, reaching the quarter-finals for a second straight year after edging Adrian Mannarino 7-6(2) 6-4 in Thursday's opener on Centre Court.

World No.6 Berdych failed to take 11 break points throughout the first set but eased through the tiebreaker.

After squandering a further six opportunities to break, all of a sudden Berdych took two to open up a 4-1 lead in the second set.

Mannarino earned a break back immediately to keep his faint hopes alive but Berdych saw out the victory to condemn the Frenchman to a 10th career defeat in as many meetings with top 10-ranked opponents.

Berdych next faces Feliciano Lopez, who saw off Kenny de Schepper 7-6(3) 6-7(4) 7-6(3).

Grigor Dimitrov also moved into the last eight after defeating Edouard Roger-Vasselin 7-6(3) 6-4.

Dimitrov will play Alexandr Dolgopolov, after Jarkko Nieminen retired from their match when he trailed 6-4 6-2.

"It was one of those days that I had to go through the match the best way possible and save a lot of energy," said Dimitrov, after temperatures soared on Thursday afternoon. "Luckily I got through in two sets."

Meanwhile, Radek Stepanek secured a shock 7-6(10) 6-2 win over Murray, ending the Scot's 19-match winning streak on grass.

His reward is a quarter-final meeting with Kevin Anderson, who beat Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-3 3-6 7-6(4) in one hour and 56 minutes.
