Ana Ivanovic required just 58 minutes to book her spot in the final of the Aegon Classic after the top seed beat Zhang Shuai 6-2 6-2 at Edgbaston.

The former French Open champion trailed 2-0 in the first set but reeled off nine successive games to take command of the match.

"On grass it can slip away really fast, so I was a little worried at the start," Ivanovic said. "She's a great player and I'm sure we'll see plenty more of her in the future.

"I played myself into the match slowly. I could have served better but I also did a lot of things well and didn't give her many chances, which is important as she's a dangerous player. I'm just happy to play here. It's great preparation for Wimbledon and I'm glad to have got so many matches in on the grass."

Ivanovic, in her first final on grass, will take on Barbora Zahlavova Strycova after the Czech beat 16th seed Casey Dellacqua 7-6(5) 6-1.
