Stanislas Wawrinka wrapped up a third-round victory against Denis Istomin but faces the daunting prospect of five matches in seven days if he is to reach the final at SW19.

Wawrinka won 6-3 6-3 6-4 after rain meant the match, originally scheduled for Saturday, had to be held over until Monday morning.

The Australian Open champion hit more than twice as many winners (33) as world No.45 Istomin (15), who was clearly under the weather as he had the doctor on court in the second set.

Wawrinka, however, will be grateful for the quick win as he needed just 87 minutes to progress to the fourth round, where he will face either Feliciano Lopez or John Isner.

Fifth seed Wawrinka will be joined in the fourth round by Kei Nishikori, who was also forced to complete his third-round tie with Simone Bolelli today after rain interrupted proceedings on Saturday.

The pair resumed at 3-3 in the final set and Nishikori saved two break points before breaking Bolelli to win 3-6 6-3 4-6 7-6(4) 6-4. The 10th seed will play Milos Raonic in the last 16.

Feliciano Lopez, the Queen's finalist and Eastbourne champion, continued his great run on grass as he survived a war of attrition against John Isner to edge the American 6-7(8) 7-6(6) 7-6(3) 7-5 in 10 minutes short of three hours.

Isner exits Wimbledon having lost serve just once, in the fourth set against Lopez.

Marin Cilic became the first man to qualify for the Wimbledon quarter-finals after beating Jeremy Chardy 7-6(8) 6-4 6-4.

It is the Croatian's best run at SW19 and he will take on Novak Djokovic or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
