Murray relishing Fergie's time

Forget Murray Mound, it could soon be "Murray time" at Wimbledon after the defending champion spoke of his friendship with former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson took up a seat in the Centre Court Royal Box to watch Murray's straight-sets victory against Kevin Anderson on Monday and, following his triumph, Murray revealed he had sought a few tips from his fellow Scot.

Murray told the BBC: "We chat about a lot of things, about football and the World Cup.

"He also said a few things that he's observed, mental things about how to respond to tight situations. You're always going to listen to someone like him because he's witnessed so many tight sporting occasions and he knows his stuff."

Another friend awaits Murray in the quarter-finals, in the shape of 11th seed and Maria Sharapova's other half Grigor Dimitrov, who overcame Leonardo Mayer with another impressive performance.

"We get along pretty good, my team and his team are on good terms. There's always jokes between us," Dimitrov said.

"Off the court is one thing, on it is another. That's exciting and hopefully there will be no hard feelings after the match. He's feeling comfortable here, all the crowd is with him. That gives him an extra edge, but also adds a little bit of pressure."
