Nadal backing Murray for major success
Andy Murray has confirmed he will take a break from tennis to recharge his batteries, but will head on holiday with a glowing endorsement from world No. 1 Rafael Nadal ringing in his ears.
Murray suffered a straight-sets defeat to Nadal in the Wimbledon semi-finals on Friday, with the Scot producing arguably his finest performance of the year but still coming up short.
The greater will of Nadal won the day but the Spaniard believes that Murray will soon make the grade and win a grand slam.
"I felt sorry for him because he's a very nice person," Nadal said. "I am sure he's going to win a grand slam very soon, because when you play in a final at the US Open, a final in Australia, the semi-finals here this year and last year, you are there all the time.
"So one day you win. I am sure he's going to win. He deserves to win."
Asked about his immediate plans, Murray said: "Go on holiday and stay away from tennis for a while."
