Kvitova crashes out as top seeds struggle

Five of the top ten seeded women have failed to make it to the second week at Flushing Meadows, with Petra Kvitova the latest to stumble. The No.3 seed was stunned by qualifier Aleksandra Krunic, ranked 145 in the world.

Andy Murray was supported by Kevin Spacey in the Louis Armstrong Stadium as he beat world No. 96 Andrey Kuznetsov in four sets.

Djokovic sails - and shows his lighter side

Novak Djokovic showed why he is the favourite for this year's men's title as he cruised past Sam Querrey in straight sets. He then showed his lighter side by inviting nine-year-old Zia Uehling, the daughter of a family friend, to sing in front of media.

Kyrgios loses his racket - and his match

Despite getting off to a flyer, Nick Kyrgios was made to pay by Tommy Robredo, losing in four sets. Kyrgios lost his way, and his temper, smashing his racquet and remonstrating with himself as he failed to become first teenager in six years to make the men's last 16 at Flushing Meadows.
