Federer up next for Chela after easy opener

Juan Ignacio Chela set up a second-round clash with two-time champion Roger Federer after cruising past Alejandro Falla at the Rogers Cup in Toronto.
Chela got off to a flying start with an early break, and followed it up with two more to seal the opening set to love. The world No. 50 dominated the match from the outset, and even when Falla held serve in the second set, Chela was in control as he eased to a 6-0 6-3 victory to record his first victory over the Colombian.
Chela will now meet third seed Federer in the second round. The pair have not met since 2006, but Federer holds a 4-0 record over the Argentinean.
The shock off the first round saw No. 13 seed Jurgen Melzer dumped out 7-6(6) 6-4 by qualifier Peter Polansky.
The No. 12 seed Mikhail Youzhny had a routine 6-4 -4 win over Gilles Simon, but No. 14 seed Nicolas Almagro was made to work hard for a 7-5 5-7 6-4 win over Ilya Marchenko.
Richard Gasquet's return from injury hit a setback when he was ousted in straight sets by Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky.
The former world No. 7 looked to have returned to form after winning back-to-back titles in May, but was forced to withdraw from Queen's with a rib injury. He reached the final in Gstaad in his return to action, but retired after losing the opening set to Kristof Vliegen in Washington last week, and he fell at the first hurdle once more, falling 7-5 6-1to the Ukrainian.
Julien Benneteau recorded a 6-4 6-4 win over Denis Istomin, while Tommy Robredo cruised past Jarkko Nieminen 6-1 6-4.
There were also wins for Victor Hanescu and South African qualifier Kevin Anderson.
Rafael Nadal's return to action in the doubles was short-lived as his marquee pairing with Novak Djokovic tasted a 5-7 6-3 10-8 defeat to Canadian wild cards Vasek Pospisil and Milos Raonic.
Andy Murray and his doubles partner Ross Hutchins lost to Philipp Kohlschreiber and Gael Monfils 6-3 6-2.
