Toronto win won't make US Open any easier - Murray

Andy Murray does not believe that his glorious run at the Rogers Cup will make it any easier for him to triumph at the "very, very difficult" US Open, which gets underway on August 30.

The world No. 4 beat Roger Federer in straight sets to claim his second successive Rogers Cup, having cruised past Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals.

Murray appeared to be back to his best form as he finished at the head of a top-quality field in Toronto - but he is not getting carried away ahead of the year's final Grand Slam at Flushing Meadows.

"[The U.S. Open has] always been a tournament I love playing, so hopefully I can do well there," Murray said. "I want to win [the US Open] - I believe I'm good enough to but it's a very, very difficult thing to do."

The Scot has now claimed his first title of 2010, having seemingly recovered from the dismal run that he was forced to endure earlier in the year, where he exited successive tournaments at the earliest opportunity in March and April.

Murray has come full circle since then, and this week has the chance to seal his return to form by claiming glory at back-to-back events - he plays at the Cincinnati Masters before a tilt at the US Open that he insists is his main priority.

"The US Open is the main goal but this is a good start," he said. "I played five days in a row from Wednesday - all the matches right in the heat of the day so it was good for me physically.

"I'll try to keep it going in Cincinnati but the most important thing is getting ready for the US Open."

In the rankings, Federer has climbed above Novak Djokovic and into second place, while Andy Roddick has plummeted to 13th.
