Amelie Mauresmo says her belief in her partnership with Andy Murray never wavered - and now their work is being vindicated by good results.

Murray reached the third Australian Open final of his career after he overcame Tomas Berdych in a fiery encounter on Thursday. Following the conclusion of his victory, Murray said Mauresmo had been "brave" to take on the role as his coach.

The appointment, made last June, attracted criticism from several current and former players. Mauresmo says she will keep counsel and let Murray's results do the talking.

"I was aware of some things, probably not all the things that were said," Mauresmo told BBC Sport. "I know where I want to go, I know what I want to do. I don't think reacting vocally to any comments is really the right way.

"I just keep doing the work, believing in what I think is the right track for Andy to be on, and we both agreed on which direction we should go. Now it's showing some good results."

Tempers appeared to flare between Murray and Berdych's player boxes during a tense opening set in the Rod Laver Arena, but mother Judy insists Mauresmo has had the opposite effect on the British No.1.

"I think Amelie's done a great job with him, she's a very calming influence," Judy Murray said. "She's very thoughtful, as she was as a player. She listens well and involves Andy in everything that's going on.

"She's not one of those coaches who comes in and tries to impose themselves and tell you what to do all the time. I think she's had a great influence on him and it was great to see him recognising that."
