Jarmila Groth celebrated her maiden WTA Tour title victory on Sunday following a convincing straight sets triumph over Alla Kudryavtseva at the Guangzhou International.

Groth was the top seed at the China event, but still victory raised one or two eyebrows as she lifted his first piece of WTA Tour silverware. Kudryavtseva simply could not find a way into the match as she lost 6-1 6-4.

Groth's maiden title has been on the cards after very respectable performances at both the French Open and Wimbledon this year. She reached the last 16 in both events, earning herself a significant rise in the world rankings.

Playing an opponent in Kudryavtseva who was also featuring in her first Tour final, Groth grabbed the match by the scruff of its collar. Dominating the Russian's serve, she secured the first of five breaks in the contest.

The Australian showed no signs of hesitation as she claimed the title without dropping a set all week, sweeping her into the world's top 50.
