Qualifier Paszek beats Mattek-Sands in epic Quebec final

Qualifier Tamira Paszek enhanced her burgeoning reputation by securing a second career title against Bethanie Mattek-Sands at the Bell Challenge in Quebec.
The 19-year-old, who had reached the final without losing a set, was forced to battle hard for a 7-6(8) 2-6 7-5 triumph in an epic encounter.
The match, which featured violent swings of momentum between the players, spanned close to three hours.
In the end Paszek emerged victorious despite severe problems on her second serve, where she lost more than half the points.
But while Mattek-Sands was dominant against the second delivery, she could do little to disrupt Paszek when the ball found the box first time - and the Austrian was able to seize breaks of her own at crucial times.
It was a frustrating loss for the pre-match favourite Mattek-Sands, who appeared to have overcome her most difficult hurdle when she beat No. 3 seed Lucie Safarova in the semi. It was not to be, however, as Paszek triumphed in 13 minutes shy of three hours on court.
