British No. 1 Elena Baltacha was dumped out of the Korea Open at the second-round stage by Agnes Szavay.

World No. 38 Szavay, who has two WTA Tour titles to her name this season, cruised to a comfortable 6-3 7-5 triumph in one hour and 50 minutes.

Szavay built a platform for victory by dismantling Baltacha's second serve, winning 21 of 30 points as the Scot failed to find any venom after missing the box with her first attempt.

After triumphing in the rain-delayed match, the Hungarian goes on to meet Kimiko Date Krumm, who felled second seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Baltacha is now set to head for India in order to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Elsewhere in Korea, top seed Nadia Petrova took a mere 80 minutes to dismiss Vania King 6-3 6-4, claiming five breaks of serve in the process. But while Petrova made comfortable progress into the last eight, other top seeds suffered shock defeats.

Wildcard entrant Dinara Safina showed signs that she is piecing her shattered game back together by crushing No. 3 seed Maria Kirilenko 6-2 6-3, while Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez - seeded fourth - was outclassed by Ekatarina Makarova, losing 6-4 7-5.

At the Tashkent Open, top-two seeds Alexandra Dulgheru and Akgul Amanmuradova were sent tumbling out by Monica Niculescu and Alla Kudryavtseva respectively.
