Del Potro crashes out in Tokyo

Juan Martin del Potro was dealt another setback in his comeback from injury as he was beaten in the opening round of the Japan Open in Tokyo.
Del Potro, who lost to Olivier Rochus in his first appearance after an eight-month absence with a wrist injury at last week's Thailand Open, was dealt his second consecutive defeat by Spain's Feliciano Lopez. The former US Open champion converted just one of 12 break points and won just 40 percent of point on his own serve as he fell 6-3 6-0 in Ariake Colosseum.
Lopez, the sixth seed in Tokyo, could next face compatriot Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, who won his first title of the year in Bangkok on Sunday, should the Spaniard make it past American qualifier Rajeev Ram. Seventh seed Ernests Gulbis served 11 aces but could not avoid a surprise 6-3 6-4 defeat to Dmitry Tursunov.
Meanwhile, at the China Open in Beijing, fifth seed Tomas Berdych was ousted by Germany's Michael Berrer. Berdych, the French Open and Wimbledon finalist, looked to be on course for a routine victory after winning the opening set, but struggled with his second serve as he fell 4-6 7-5 6-4.
Gilles Simon upset Sam Querrey 6-3 3-6 6-2, while wildcard John Isner moved into the second round with a 7-6(5) 6-3 win over Tsung-Hua Yang.
