Serena Williams has been forced to postpone her return to tennis after suffering a further injury setback.

The American, who will be replaced as world No. 1 by Caroline Wozniacki next week, had been due to make her comeback at the WTA tournament in Linz next week.

But the 29-year-old, sidelined since July with a foot injury, has had to scupper those plans after suffering "a physical problem" which surfaced in her final training session for the event.

Former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic has accepted a late wild card into the tournament.
