Azarenka takes title to Doha

Victoria Azarenka will go into the WTA Championships in Doha next week on the back of a tournament victory after beating Maria Kirilenko in straight sets to lift the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.

After qualifying for the year-end champions in Doha with victory over Andrea Petkovic on Wednesday, the second seed topped off an impressive week with a 6-3 6-4 victory to claim her second title of the year.

Azarenka dropped one set all week, but had to battle back from 0-4 down in the second set, winning six games in a row to seal the win. The Moscow crowd did their best to encourage Kirilenko, who will return to the top 20 but she was well beaten by a confident Azarenka.

"I'm happy to win another title," Azarenka said. "It brings me extra confidence for Doha. I have a flight there tonight so I'm excited to arrive on a high."
