Courier takes over helm of USA team

Former world No. 1 Jim Courier has been named as the new US Davis Cup captain.
The four-time grand slam winner replaces Patrick McEnroe, who resigned last month after ten years at the helm. McEnroe, who is an analyst with ESPN, announced his decision during the US Open, and Courier was quick to throw his name into the ring.
"Davis Cup means the world to me, and at some point in my life I certainly hope to have that seat," he told CBS at the time.
Courier's first engagement would be to take charge of the team in March against Chile with a potential quarter-final clash against Spain in the quarter-finals in July.
As a player Courier enjoyed Davis Cup victory twice, in 1992 and 1995 and amassed a 16-10 record in singles.
Despite the USA's dominance in the competition, winning the title a record 32 times, they have only won it once since 1995 - when Andy Roddick and James Blake recorded a 4-1 victory over Russia in 2007.
