Davydenko gets back on track with commanding win

Nikolay Davydenko looked to be piecing his shattered game back together as he defeated Mischa Zverev at the Open Sud de France.
The Russian suffered an embarrassing early exit at the Kremlin Cup last week, but he avoided a repeat by cruising past his German opponent 7-5 6-3 in 95 minutes.
Davydenko has struggled to recapture his best form after breaking his wrist earlier this season - he has only two quarter-finals since returning to action - but he dismissed Zverev with impressive ease.
The world No. 11 had his difficulties on return against the powerful Zverev, but an authoritative service performance gives him something to build on ahead of next season.
Elsewhere, No .2 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga thundered down 11 aces on his way to beating Federico Gil 6-3 6-4.
At the St Petersburg Open, Kremlin Cup winner Victor Troicki was brought crashing back down to earth by Rainer Schuettler, who won 6-4 4-6 6-3. Troicki claimed his first career trophy last weekend, but he didn't look to have been energised by that triumph as he slumped to defeat in over two hours.
He wasn't the only seed to go tumbling out, as Sergiy Stakhovsky - who wasn't done any favours by the draw - fell victim to the dangerous Benjamin Becker 6-4 5-7 6-4.
No troubles for top seed Mikhail Youzhny though, as he delighted the home crowd by thumping Daniel Brands 6-4 6-1.
At the Bank Austria Trophy, top seed Jurgen Melzer edged out Lukasz Kubot 7-6(3) 7-6(2) in a match of fine margins.
