Andy Murray rubber-stamped his place in the last four of the ATP World Tour Finals with an emphatic victory over David Ferrer, and then instantly declared ahead of the semis: "I'd like to play against Rafa".

Murray had all his major tools working as he swept aside the threat of Ferrer 6-2 6-2, requiring less than 70 minutes to clinch victory. The forehand and backhand worked in tandem, while the drop shot was in the mood to torment after it let him down so badly against Roger Federer on Tuesday.

The British No. 1 can now put his feet up and watch with interest as three players battle to become his opponent in Saturday's semi-final. Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Tomas Berdych and Andy Roddick can all reach the last four, but the latter cannot top the group and therefore cannot face Murray.

Probability points to a Murray v Nadal semi-final, and when asked who he wants to face, Murray told Sky Sports 2: "I'd like to play against Rafa. I always like playing against him, and I'm sure it'd be a good match to watch."

The only concern for the Briton against Ferrer came in the opening two games of the match, and Murray admitted to feeling nerves. He knew he only had to win one set to advance from the group stages, and the returning world No. 4 confessed it was a tough situation in which to play tennis.

"I was little bit [nervous]. I knew before I went on that I needed to win one set and David needed to win comfortably, so it was quite a strange position to be in," Murray explained. "He started off better, but I returned well to get back into it.

"It feels great [to qualify]. They've built an unbelievable tournament here; it's one of the best venues to play in for sure. It's pretty much packed every single match."
