Lloyd selects youthful Davis Cup squad

James Ward, Dan Evans and Jamie Baker are the candidates to compete in the singles for Great Britain in the upcoming Davis Cup tie against Lithuania.
Coach John Lloyd must whittle the trio down to two before the fixture in Vilnius on 5-7 March. Andy Murray was not eligible for selection after announcing his intention to withdraw from the team last month.
Doubles specialists Colin Fleming, Ross Hutchins and Ken Skupski complete the six-man squad, which will shrink to four on 23 February when Lloyd reveals his final selection.
"This is a real opportunity for some of our younger players to gain valuable Davis Cup experience," Lloyd said. "I'm confident that they all have the ability to perform at this level and a passion to represent their country."
Baker, world No. 288, is the only member of the singles group to taste victory in a Davis Cup match - although that was in a dead rubber in 2008 against Agustin Calleri.
Great Britain No. 2 Alex Bogdanovic is a notable omission from the group, having also been excluded by Lloyd in 2009.
