Becker disappointed by Murray and Djokovic

Boris Becker has admitted he was disappointed by Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic this season.

While Murray reached the Australian Open final in January, Djokovic was a beaten finalist at the US Open in New York, but neither were able to break Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer's dominance at the year's majors.

The pair have both enjoyed brief stints as world No. 2, but they ended the year at No. 3 and No. 4 for the third successive year.

"Murray and Djokovic have been showing potential for the last few years but neither of them really progressed this season," Becker told ESPN.

"Obviously it is difficult with Nadal and Federer ahead of them but I would hope they will make more of an impact next year."

While the top four have remained unchanged, Nikolay Davydenko, Juan Martin del Potro and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga have been replaced in the top ten by Tomas Berdych, David Ferrer and Mikhail Youzhny.

Berdych made his mark when losing to Nadal in the Wimbledon final, but Becker cannot envisage any player making a breakthrough next season.

"I would love to say that a young German player will make the breakthrough into the top ten next year, but sadly I don't think it will happen," he said. "Obviously Soderling made the jump last year and it was Berdych this season, but I don't expect the current group of players to change much in 2011."
