Melzer crushed by Davydenko

Nikolay Davydenko proved much too good for Jurgen Melzer, booking his place in the semi-finals at the ABN AMRO World Indoor tournament in Rotterdam with a 6-3 6-4 success.
Melzer got off to a solid start by securing a break of serve in game three, bur Davydenko - who has lost just one game this year - found his range from the back of the court and reeled off five games on the spin to take the opening set.
The Austrian stopped the rot by holding serve at the start of the second set, but it was just a brief hold-up as Davydenko secured two breaks of serve and wrapped up the contest with an ace.
Robin Soderling set up a semi-final clash with Davydenko with an emphatic victory over Julien Benneteau.
The Swede barely broke a sweat as he dropped just one game on his way to a 6-0 6-1 victory in less than 50 minutes.
He lost just five points as he stunned his opponent to take the opening set to love, and the second set continued in a similar vein; the Frenchman managing to hold his opening service game before Soderling eased away to victory.
Mikhail Youzhny recovered from the shock of losing the first set to a rampant Gael Monfils to progress to a semi-final clash with Nokav Djokovic with a 5-7 6-2 6-3 victory. The Frenchman played some superb tennis in the first set, but his game went downhill as the match progressed and Youzhny was able to take full advantage.
