Federer and Djokovic reach last eight

Australian Open women's round-up:
Wozniacki goes through untested
Roger Federer again suffered a few mid-tournament hiccups as he reached the Australian Open quarter-finals by battling past Tommy Robredo 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-2.
To be fair to the world No.2 Federer, Robredo never quite looked like recording an upset victory, but Federer's 40 unforced errors will still be an area of concern. In an effort to get out of the oppressive Melbourne heat, Federer looked to go for the big shots, hitting an incredible 50 winners to Robredo's 28, but the second-set lapse will not have pleased the normally clinical Swiss.
The defending champion will now meet fellow Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka, who outserved eighth seed Andy Roddick to reach the quarter-finals of a grand slam for only the second time. Wawrinka, who won Olympic gold in the men's doubles with Federer, fired 24 aces to Roddick's nine, and hit 67 winners to the American's 24 to record a 6-3 6-4 6-4 victory.
Third seed Novak Djokovic showed the way forward with a more ruthless fourth-round win, clocking up a 6-3 6-4 6-0 score at the expense of Nicolas Almagro. Djokovic produced a more enviable 31-17 winner-error count, contrasting with No.14 seed Almagro's 15-35 statistics.
Next up for Djokovic will be Tomas Berdych, who kept alive the chances of a quarter-finals involving the top eight seeds by getting past Fernando Verdasco 6-4 6-2 6-3.
