Melzer plans to dictate match against Murray
Australian Open men's round-up:
Federer and Djokovic reach quarters
Jurgen Melzer has promised to dominate Andy Murray when the pair meet on Monday for a place in the Australian Open quarter-finals.
Melzer has never beaten Murray, losing all four of their previous encounters, but he is playing some of the best tennis of his life, which is reflected by his world No. 11 ranking.
The Austrian advanced to the fourth round after Marcos Baghdatis retired with a finger injury in their last match, but Melzer was already winning 6-7(5) 6-2 6-1 4-3 when the withdrawal arrived.
Two years ago Murray raced through a 2009 tie with Melzer in Melbourne, winning 7-5 6-0 6-3, but Melzer insists he will not suffer a repeat.
"He is playing well, he has great defensive skills," he said of Murray's progress thus far. "It is like two gameplans meeting each other.
"He killed me here in 2009 but the other matches have all been close.
"I am going to be the one dictating the points. If I can keep my unforced errors low, push him around, I think I have a chance to beat him."
